Hotel Residencial Dona Sofia is situated within Braga’s touristic itinerary, which includes the historic and shopping area of the city, surrounded by museums, movie theaters and a large pedestrian zone. The hotel has 34 bedrooms, a conference room, and a bar, with all modern comforts.  To take full advantage of your visit to Braga and the Minho requires a stay of at least three nights in order to do all the sightseeing and excursions proposed here. Spend your first day in Braga and visit the Arco da Porta Nova (one of the old city’s gates), the Cathedral and its sacred art treasure, the Biscainhos museum, the Santa Cruz church, the ruins of the city’s Roman baths, the chapel of São Frutuoso, the Tibães Monastery, and the new Municipal Stadium. On the second day travel to Guimarães and visit the famous monuments of this city, considered the craddle of the Portuguese nation, and chosen as a world heritage site. On your way back, go through Taipas in the direction of the Citânia de Briteiros (an Iron Age settlement) and to Sameiro and Bom Jesus. From here, take the road to Vieira do Minho with a stop at the Pousada de São Bento da Porta Aberta, before going on to Gerês to visit the National Park of Peneda-Gerês. On your way back to Braga, take the road through Amares to see the Rendufe Monastery. Reserve your third day for a visit to the Alto Minho: from Braga, take the road to Ponte da Barca, Ponte de Lima, Arco de Valdevez, Valença (visit its fortress), Caminha, Praia do Moledo, Vila Praia de Ãncora, Viana do Castelo to visit the Monte de Santa Luzia, taking the funicular railway, Esposende and Ofir (beaches), and Barcelos. Hospitality is an art in the Minho... at the Hotel Residencial Dona Sofia we cultivate this art. |
